Podiatrist Stephen Warner

Stephen qualified from the Chelsea School of Chiropody in 1982.

On qualifying he began working with the NHS in Southampton, where he worked for 19 years in both community and hospital settings gaining experience in many areas of podiatry including diabetic foot care, rheumatology, orthopaedic triage, working with individuals with mental health issues and with learning disabilities. Whilst here, he gained a teaching qualification and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional and Policy Studies at the University of Portsmouth. During his time in Southampton, Stephen was fortunate enough to be seconded to the School of Podiatry as a Clinical Supervisor and this role developed and he became responsible for overseeing practice education and formally teaching Clinical Biomechanics along with Local Anaesthetics and Nail Surgery. He also carried out postgraduate teaching in Neurological and Vascular assessment of the Lower Limb and Local Anaesthetics and Anaphylaxis as part of the University’s pharmacology programme.

In 2001, Stephen moved to Oxford taking up a varied and challenging post; being based in the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism but with Podiatry Lead responsibility for Dermatology and Rheumatology. Whilst in Oxford, he completed a Postgraduate Pertificate in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery. 

Alongside working in the NHS, Stephen has worked at various times in private practice, initially with Robert Prince, one of the first podiatrists to practice Podiatric Surgery in the UK and a founder of the Podiatry Association and more recently in association with two colleagues, providing podiatry care in the Algarve and several years working with Jason Nandlal, Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in Harrow and Essex.

For the past 2 years, Stephen has been working in a practice in Launceston, Cornwall.

Stephen has certification for the Administration and Supply of certain Prescription Only Medicines (POM – A & POM – S) as well as IR(ME)R certification for requesting X-rays.

Despite many years in the profession, Stephen remains committed to maintaining and developing high clinical standards and to providing the best possible care to all patients, and having a multidisciplinary team makes this much easier.
